This is the kind of interpretation that I have been searching for. The moment I read this, I know this is it, this is love. This article definitely applies to more than marriage, it's probably for everyone, you're single, in a relationship or married. Because even if it's not you, there is someone you know in a relationship that you could possibly help them out one day.

Having been married only a year and a half, I’ve recently come to the conclusion that marriage isn’t for me.

Now before you start making assumptions, keep reading.

I met my wife in high school when we were 15 years old. We were friends for ten years until…until we decided no longer wanted to be just friends. :) I strongly recommend that best friends fall in love. Good times will be had by all.

Nevertheless, falling in love with my best friend did not prevent me from having certain fears and anxieties about getting married. The nearer Kim and I approached the decision to marry, the more I was filled with a paralyzing fear. Was I ready? Was I making the right choice? Was Kim the right person to marry? Would she make me happy?

Then, one fateful night, I shared these thoughts and concerns with my dad.

Perhaps each of us have moments in our lives when it feels like time slows down or the air becomes still and everything around us seems to draw in, marking that moment as one we will never forget.

My dad giving his response to my concerns was such a moment for me. With a knowing smile he said, “Seth, you’re being totally selfish. So I’m going to make this really simple: marriage isn’t for you. You don’t marry to make yourself happy, you marry to make someone else happy. More than that, your marriage isn’t for yourself, you’re marrying for a family. Not just for the in-laws and all of that nonsense, but for your future children. Who do you want to help you raise them? Who do you want to influence them? Marriage isn’t for you. It’s not about you. Marriage is about the person you married.”

It was in that very moment that I knew that Kim was the right person to marry. I realized that I wanted to make her happy; to see her smile every day, to make her laugh every day. I wanted to be a part of her family, and my family wanted her to be a part of ours. And thinking back on all the times I had seen her play with my nieces, I knew that she was the one with whom I wanted to build our own family.

My father’s advice was both shocking and revelatory. It went against the grain of today’s “Walmart philosophy”, which is if it doesn’t make you happy, you can take it back and get a new one.

No, a true marriage (and true love) is never about you. It’s about the person you love—their wants, their needs, their hopes, and their dreams. Selfishness demands, “What’s in it for me?”, while Love asks, “What can I give?”

Some time ago, my wife showed me what it means to love selflessly. For many months, my heart had been hardening with a mixture of fear and resentment. Then, after the pressure had built up to where neither of us could stand it, emotions erupted. I was callous. I was selfish.

But instead of matching my selfishness, Kim did something beyond wonderful—she showed an outpouring of love. Laying aside all of the pain and aguish I had caused her, she lovingly took me in her arms and soothed my soul.

Marriage is about family.

I realized that I had forgotten my dad’s advice. While Kim’s side of the marriage had been to love me, my side of the marriage had become all about me. This awful realization brought me to tears, and I promised my wife that I would try to be better.

To all who are reading this article—married, almost married, single, or even the sworn bachelor or bachelorette—I want you to know that marriage isn’t for you. No true relationship of love is for you. Love is about the person you love.

And, paradoxically, the more you truly love that person, the more love you receive. And not just from your significant other, but from their friends and their family and thousands of others you never would have met had your love remained self-centered.

Truly, love and marriage isn’t for you. It’s for others.

So I am gonna embark on my first full-time job at KL in March. Next on will be quittng my currrent part time jobs here, packing my 4 years worth of luggages, and settling accommodation in KL.

It drives me a little nervous how it will be like working in such a huge company. I've always have this mindset that it is really hard to get in this particular company, couldn't believe that I'm entering it very soon! Wonder how the company's culture will be like. I hope it will be an enjoyable and fulfilling career there.

Today when I was buying some baking ingredients at Woolworths, an aunty came to me asking if I speak Mandarin and if I could help her out. She was pushing a baby pram (her grandson) and looking at the pans and woks. And she said, her daughter only has a pan in her house that it is so inconvenient to cook dishes and even to cook some noodle for the kid. But the daughter didn't seemed to bother to buy more pans or woks just to save money. As she was telling me all these, one could just sense how much she loves her daughter. She ended up buying a wok and a mini pot for her daughter.

Stumbled across these images below from facebook today and it reminded me of the reality. Even though we already know all these, but it's good to be reminded once in awhile, as we could be carried away by our life too.

I'm afraid of losing people.
Not ordinary friend.
A best friend.
A soulmate.
A person I hold so closely to my heart.

I do not know that if I work hard enough, it will be fine.
I do not know how far could I go down this route.
I do not know how much I could sacrifice.

I'm scared.
I'm devastated by the possibility of losing you.
I'm weakened by the existent of this possibility.minnieivyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14060166070562778067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5958286899454215927.post-76003803365153952412013-10-16T03:13:00.001+11:002013-10-16T03:13:19.625+11:00Wake me up when September endsSeptember ended, infact it's already mid october. Fourth year here in Australia, second year in Melbourne. Definitely not a short period of time, but has it been long enough?

Since 2 years ago, I have been facing the the options of my life, unfortunately it is a choice not entirely on my hand. There are other factors to take into consideration, factors that are realistic and consuming me. I am bad at this, very bad at making decision that affects others, even by remote.

For sure that I have learnt alot and I'm happy with my exposure. But I know deep in my heart that I haven't got the best I could. I didn't give it all to experience everything. I held back too much in the past, but I've grown out of it. I've finally started my dreams in baking and coffee to actions. It is pretty late that I just got started few months ago. But my passion has doubled, if not tripled since then. I am madly in love with what I am doing right now.

A call from family about household situation always stir up my emotions. The fact that I need to be more independent, take up more responsibility and being the eldest in this family don't help at all. It makes me worry about my family. It confuses my rational mind. It forces my heart to weigh family factors heavily in each of my actions, especially this one, one that determine my future.

Looks like I'm heading home, soon, very soon indeed.

I need to make full use of my time from now on. With all I can, with all my time and energy.

Ever since graduation of secondary school back in Malaysia, I have experienced countless times of separation. Till now, I couldn't bare not to feel emotional on it.

I could still remember vividly when I decided to pursue my pre-university studies in KL, and my best friend (shay phing) is gonna stay back for Form 6, I was so emotionally affected by the thought of not able to see her. We had been seeing each other almost everyday in school and tuition, tell me how not to be sad over that kind of friendship! We had a hang out for my belated birthday and farewell, and both of us couldn't contain ourselves and cried out at the restaurant. Well it was really hard for us to be apart!

After that I have learnt to understand that's life as we have our different destiny. And also thanks for the convenience of internet nowadays to help all of us stay connected despite the distance. Recently, I have came to an acknowledgement that in my situation, I couldn't fully blend myself in Australian's group. By that I mean not being able to grow further into a very close friendship, but I am happy to social and mix around with them. It's just the interests and activities that I couldn't see myself indulge in.

However, I have recently met someone, that touched my heart. She cares for me like no one else (locals) I've met, smile to me genuinely and welcome me so much. I would see her 3 days a week as she work next door. But she left. I am so used to look over next door to say hi, but I know she's not there anymore. I did some butter cookies for her on the last day, to thank her, for being such a great person. Sigh I miss her.

The reason that I started this post, is a good friend that I met during my university years came back for graduation, and now is leaving, again. But this time is for good. We had so much moments together, good and bad that strengthened our friendship. Since I moved to Melbourne, I went back to Adelaide a few times and he came over for travel as well. But after this time, there will be no such travel moments anymore. The next time we meet, will probably be back in Malaysia, and the date is unknown. I wish him all the best with his undertakings and hopefully we will meet again very soon.

Coin laundry is located at Armadale, just right off the train stop. very very convenient for us that don't own any vehicles. The cafe is the busiest part surrounding it. We took a short walk around and it's all residential. It is a quiet and lovely area, which encourages us to snap some pictures around.

This cafe has the cutest name ever! But the interior totally lives up to the name! There are cloths hanging on top of the ceiling, reminding me of how people used to hang damp clothes on wooden rack. And oh look at the wall, there are little pieces of paper cut into miniature clothes, hanging on the rope! How adorable!

Elaine and my usuals, capuccino and flat white :) I always love how cafes here are so into the deco details, and one thing that is always there regardless of various themes is flowers. There will always be flowers on the table. It is just a matter of which flower type. This cafe had its pick on orchid. I suspect that this unwritten rule of flower deco among all cafes in Australia has planted a special indescribable feeling in my heart. I do realise that I am liking flowers deeply, totally not the way I would to feel in the past.

The all-white walls paired up with some rustic feel has had me falling in love. Not to mention, the extensive use of wooden materials in furnitures. And the huge glass window/ door that allows all the sunlight to shin in, brighten up the whole cafe. It is the sun rays that could always cheer and brighten me up!As you can see from the picture below, they have some specials written on the brownish papers like a scroll that is fixed on top of the door.
I was torn between a few choices but ended up with French toast with bacon. I love French Toast, madly deeply, of course only the good ones. My favourites are from Galleon cafe, followed by Fandango. This plate of goodness could be one of my favourites too! At first glace of the portion, the 2 pieces of French Toast looked abit smaller in size compared to others. But, it is so filling, I could not tell how many eggs they've used in this plate! The presentation is pretty attractive too! the bacons were presented in the way of skewers.

Elaine had this Omelette with smoked salmon. They put in pretty generous portion of salmon in the omelette. To be honest, omelette is a pretty old school dish, but this is nonetheless a yummy dish. Given the big portion of salmon tucked in it, it couldn't go wrong in any way haha...
While we were savouring our dishes, some new customers came in and ordered what seemed to me like baked eggs, something in ramekins which looks delicious. I would love to try that the next time round. Highly recommend this cafe and would love to go back again.

Have been delaying this for so long now, has been weeks ago that I visited Hammer & Tong. Has been good fun weeks going for baking classes and celebrating birthday. Hammer & Tong is actually not on the main street of Brunswick, thus you will find the sign, or rather their logo that direct you to turn right into the lane where it is situated.

Hammer & Tong's interior is of a rectangular space that got divided into what seemed like 3 spaces, with main area is levelled slightly higher, and the third area is an all white room. The kitchen area is pretty small and quite open, as you could peeped through the front rectangular glass as well as from the side through the cashier.

Of course we made our research on the cafe's menu and reviews before heading over. I was specifically attracted by the soft shell crab burger. Between four of us, two of us ordered it and the other two ordered slow cooked bbq pork.

The pork belly dish turns out to be superb in both presentation and flavour. It was braised with full flavour, accompanied with some brussel sprouts, black beans and spring onion. In addition to the broth, there are avocado cream and what I suspected to be creme fraiche. I'm definitely not an avocado person but this is very acceptable to my standard, for it being pretty light in flavour. This dish scored it, even the brussel sprout tasted so good, one thing it missed was for the skin to be crispier.

And for the soft shell crab burger, it looked abit of a pity in comparison to the complex plating of the slow cooked pork. The soft shell crab was deep fried and served up with sriracha mayonnaise. To be honest, I couldn't remember the exact taste of the burger, but one thing for sure is it was too salty, way too salty for all of us. This a simple dish but it is always harder to resist soft shell crab.

In overall, the food here is great except for the soft shell crab being too salty. I will not be getting the soft shell crab again for my next visit, will definitely go for something else instead. However, the slow cooked pork is definitely worth ordering!

Officially a year older now, and wiser I hope heh... It actually don't hit on me much, everyone grows older anyway.

I was given the freedom to choose my birthday gift from bf although he wanted to get me a Pandora. I have been thinking of other choices but eventually I couldn't come out with a thing that both of us agreed on. So we went in Pandora to check out a day before my birthday. And surprise surprise we got a Pandora bracelet and charms on the spot, and a sparkling love shaped charm from Elaine! I wasn't prepared to get it on the spot but somehow it happened. Grateful for the gorgeous gift.

On the actual date, there was a special "One day Shopping Sales" at Melbourne Central. How lucky eh? So we have to be at the mall early.. And..And... that's when I got my flowers delivered to my doorstep by bf <3 a="" enough="" inside="" is="" joke="" lololol="" love="" major="" once="" p="" year=""></3>

To make it more fun, we joined the competition held in accordance of the event, which explains spamming pictures on our Instagrams lol... Unfortunately non of us won it but we had so much fun running around the mall for treasure hunt! I have never joined any such competition in a mall, a very special memory indeed. This was actually the second competition, there were a limit number of participants for the first game which we didn't get to join and changed the plan to breakfast at Pancake Parlour.

After the game we went for shopping spree! So many offers at all the shops! Some are really cheap and worthy. Most of the stores have 20-30% off. It was then that I bought a pair of sneakers from Vans. Oh I don't shop for sneakers, really. But I have been wanting one pair to be on my shoe rack, ya' know, sometimes to change a little! Here's a picture of us in a slightly different style, trying on the caps in Vans store.

We shopped from the morning till evening @.@ Due to some delay at the queue to get in fitting room I would say, not sure if it even qualifies as an excuse lol But we got so tired of walking by the end of the day. Good thing that I stay so near by don't need to walk a far distant to get back to home. It was a full on fun filled and adventurous birthday.

We ended our day by going for a steak restaurant called City Grill Room. I am having this major major love for steak especially this year! And this is by far the best, most tender, right to the degree kind of steak! I am so gonna go back if I have the chance! I love my rib-eye on bone so much!

Now I have to backdate to about 5 days before. I had an advanced mini cupcake surprise session at home. Main reason being bf's brother was here travelling and another housemate of mine is travelling back home town during my birthday. I am contented having them to share the joy with me.
On a side note, I miss my friends back home that would always celebrate it with me as well! Grateful that even all of us are thousand miles apart, you guys still put in effort to send your wishes accross! At the bright side, my relatives are coming over for a week in November! 2 more months :)minnieivyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14060166070562778067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5958286899454215927.post-33379700187429982152013-09-04T09:00:00.000+10:002013-09-04T09:00:05.560+10:00Falls Creek Snow Ski

I can now say that I have seen, play and walk in snow after 3 years plus in Australia! Well, main reason being most of the areas in Australia don't snow in winter. The temperature is simply not cold enough for the snow to visit. Therefore we have to go up the mountains such as Mount Buller, Hotham and Falls Creek for the snow experience. It was such a fun and adventurous 3 days trip I would say. We picked Falls Creek as it is most probably not as crowded as Mount Buller, and as for Hotham somehow we just didn't thought of going there.

It normally takes about 6-7hours ride from Melbourne city to Falls Creek. Unfortunately, it took us way longer than that! We were stuck just before we reach Falls Creek due to rock slide and VicRoad decided that it is too dangerous and it is gonna take a whole night to clear the road. We were so shocked and worried at that point, it was our first snow trip ya see... So we had two choices, to return to Melbourne city; or to take the chance and stay overnight at the small town we were at, which is called Bright and hoping that the road will be cleared by tomorrow morning. But that means we will be having 2 days 1 night instead of 3 days 2 nights at Falls Creek. Anyhow we decided to wait till the next morning and I am grateful that we made that decision as the road was cleared by the next morning as promised by VicRoad.

I was so ecstatic seeing the snowy scenery, so white so picturesque! None of us has snow walking boots thus we were walking so carefully as it is quite slippery walking on the snow, way more slippery than we thought, not to mention dragging our luggages along to the accommodation. To avoid this, there is a transfer service that costs $20 per person per trip but our accommodation is nearby so we didn't want to pay for that.

We stayed at Elk at Falls and it is a really lovely apartment. It is a 2 bedrooms apartment with fully furnished kitchenette. And that is why we brought food over to have steamboat in the chilly night. A major plus point is the view from the balcony, so so so gorgeous I can't describe! Gasps! It's all snowy white, it's like a painting!

Our first group picture at snow mountain :D We were on our way to pick up our ski gears. The ski clothing are all waterproof, which is very important not only to protect against the wind/rain but is extremely helpful if you happen to fall down while skiing/ snowboarding or else you will be all wet. The ski boots and boards are not only picked best to your size, but also calibrated for accuracy. The ski gears are pretty heavy to carry. And the bulky ski boots are also quite stiff and tight, which is good to maintain your ankle position to avoid injuries but could be uncomfortable for first time wearer.
It works in such a way that we take chair lifts up the top and ski down, there are various slopes, in terms of steepness, distance and difficulty. All lifts were opened on that day but given our limited time on that day for us to learn to ski and actually started skiing on our own, we only bought the ticket with least lifts. We had about 2 hours beginner lesson to learn to handle the ski boards.

The lifts are not even like a cable car, it's basically just steel chair with handle!! And we had to carry the ski gears with our hands all the way up as we didn't even know how to fit it up with our ski boots at that point of time. I was trying to hold my ski gears tightly fearing if I accidentally let loose it will fell off, the long ride was not doing any good! Feeling the weight of ski gears and the never ending distance, the only thing that made it better was the breathtaking scenery, really. Why can't they have proper cable car so that we can rest the gears and enjoy the scenery?!

Also, snowman is not limited to movies anymore! There I seen it with my own eyes and even built one myself! Proud moment.. Don't laugh at how excited I was and still am, 'cause it was my first snowman ever in my life ok! As we were returning to the city the next day evening, we just rented the ski gears for a day. We decided to just walked around the village, just relax and have some fun. For me, it means snapping pictures all the way hehehe
I miss the scenery so much, so much more that I never thought of. It was simply unforgettable! Eventhough the trip didn't go according to plan at the start but I'm glad that we made the right choice and made it to Falls Creek in the end. It is definitely an adventurous one. Everything that was so perfect on Falls Creek redeem it all! One thing that made it not-so-perfect was that it didn't actually snow on that 2 days. Oh well, life is not always perfect isn't it? There's always possibility in life right? :)
It should be at ending phase but no, it is still not. I've had enough time dressing up or rather getting covered in jackets and coats. I can't wait for spring! I could have so much more different outfits to brighten up my day! And not forgetting arm candies and necklaces to add on the magic.

I have sort of made my decision, a pretty significant decision to direct my life. I miss home, I miss where I belong to. Almost couldn't believe how much I miss the feeling of belonging, given how much I love everything Melbourne has to offer me and independence I have in my soul. But people change, don't we? Hopefully I will fill up my eagerness while I have time and financial ability over here, to take steps closer to my dream. I wish I could go all out for it, yet I can't even though I've set a timeframe for myself here. I guess everything need some sacrifices?minnieivyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14060166070562778067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5958286899454215927.post-87472611660436835092013-07-30T02:20:00.000+10:002013-07-30T02:20:05.411+10:00爱恨越美的城市,是否让人越迷茫?

Unlike other cafes, I didn't discover this one through food blogs, Urbanspoon nor friend's recommendations. It started with boyfie's church service at Planetshakers. We usually go for lunch after the service and that is when we started going to Ying Thai I which is just few tram stops away from the church. Then we noticed this Thai cafe in the same row as Ying Thai I. Back then, we couldn't believe that a thai cafe is situated right beside it. I mean, how is it gonna compete with Ying Thai?? Both Ying Thai I and II are already the best! (well, except a Thai shop that I love but the owner has relocated to Sydney sigh) And then after a few visits to Ying Thai I, both of us decided to give it a try because we were too curious how did it survive, located just beside Ying Thai I.

The space is really quite small but the owner did put in efforts in decorating the interior. There is alot of wooden elements in the cafe. Wood really successfully make you to feel more related to Thailand. I remember there are alot of handicraft souvenirs sold in Thailand are made of wood, especially wooden animal sculptures. I have wooden elephant sculptures and a wooden photo album back home. How cool is that photo album, the covers are made of wood, with elephants being symbols of Thailand crafted on top, and the inner sheets are made of recycled papers. It is so eco-friendly yet beautiful!

Also, there are a huge amount of books on the shelves. They are for sale too. So you could pick up some of them and bring them home if you are interested.

As the name of "Noodle Cafe" suggests, we had their signature noodle soup. They have beef, chicken and pork options for it. Also, you could pick the noodle type that you fancy, be it rice noodle, egg noodle or vermicelli. One thing to take note is that if you are after glass vermicelli, remember to mention it instead of just "vermicelli". Or else they'll give you rice vermicelli instead.

We both ordered Beef Noodle soup with vermicelli. As you could tell, besides the beef slices and beef balls, they actually put in pork lard too. OMG CRUNCHY DEEP FRIED PORK LARD. Really, it always make a huge difference and enhances the flavour of the dish instantly. I regretted that I didn't finish off all the lard before I finish the noodles because by then it turns soggy already. The soup is very rich. The taste is somewhat between Bak Kut Teh and Braised meat. So yummy! Also you could add in some of their chillies to make it a bit spicy just to have some kicks.

Actually this was my second visit. I had Tom Yum soup during my first visit. It was good too, but not as spicy as Ying Thai's. The advantage is you could adjust the spicy and sour level yourself by adding their chillies. But the noodle soup beats it flat. Hands down man.

Maedaya has been on my wishlist for a very long while, after hearing good review of it from my ex-workmate. But it's not in the city, which means I have to take a tram ride to the restaurant plus I was told that there'll always be waiting time to be seated as it is almost always full house. So it just got postponed to unknown date. Major reason being I hardly travel out of city for meal except for brunch hunting. I have no idea why only brunch! Anyway, I finally made it with boyfie and housemates for farewell. Well not really a farewell because she's just going back hometown for one and a half week lol
Aren't the interior gorgeous?? Details details.... Haven't been seeing the wooden plate for very long time since my last visit to Japan. It just added an authentic feel to the restaurant! I also love how they incorporate so many ropes to the walls and ceiling, even camouflaging it into curtains! It reminded me so much of the traditional beaded doorway curtains in my aunt's house which looks like something below.

Unfortunately, the upper level doesn't look as awesome as the ground level. We were seated at upper level as it was full at ground level. And the upper level has bigger tables suitable for groups. We actually did waited when we arrived, but we didn't wait for too long so it was quite a pleasant wait.
I've read from some reviews that they used to have this 3 pages long menu, but now they've catched up with the technology and is using the ipad as menu and ordering function. It definitely presented clearer menu categories and individual food picture, and good for quick and accurate order, but downfalls are it is hard to have a look at menu together when you're in a group and would like to discuss food sharing option, and you can't cancel any order once u put it through. They serve free green tea, but expect least out of this.It is not good. Just skip this or pay for sake as what they are famous.
This is the bomb! Well marinated and BBQ-ed skewers!!! The further plate is chicken thigh skewers (Yakitori) in original flavour and plum sauce (sweet and sour). The nearer plate consists of a variety of skewers (Sumiyaki set). The fancy rolled up skewer is bean curd. My first time eating bean curd this sumiyaki style! We agreed that the Yakinori is the best, although I pretty much like the bean curd too =D
Karaage chicken, one of boyfie's favourite japanese/korean dishes. Unfortuantely it turned out to be really not up to the standard set by the previous few dishes. It was quite a let down. It is crispy just not the taste that we normally had for this dish.
Upon finishing our dishes, we are quite satisfied. It is the kind of meal that you enjoyed it so much and you don't need to overload your tummy to get satisfied. You could just appreciate all the flavours you had and be grateful of it already. But to top it off, I ordered this ice cream combo of black sesame and green tea to share with Elaine. This is to satisfy our dessert tummy. Always have space for dessert hehe.. I guess I just couldn't resist green tea ice cream everytime I see it on menu in a Japanese restaurant.
The first time I've heard of this cafe was actually 2-3 years back. I remember that I first saw the recommendation from the flight entertainment magazine. But somehow I have never physically noted it down, which explains why I have never got reminded of it when choosing a brunch place. And whenever I have brunch during Sunday, it is always closed so I never walked over to take a look either. Finally, I marked it down under wishlist in Urbanspoon to remind myself to pay a visit.

The cafe is situated pretty deep in the laneway, and there is no sign at the laneway entrance, so if you are just walking pass, you might not even notice about it. You really have to pause a while to have a look into the lane.

One thing that is very common in Melbourne is that there are so many cafes that hang bikes on the wall. I find it amusing when I first came to Melbourne, but having visited quite a few cafes by now I wonder it must be some kind of culture that cafe owners in Melbourne developed through their love for bikes. Little mule has a double identity of a custom bike shop apart from being just a cafe.

As you can see, there is a really huge and long communal table so it is really great for big group. We went on a Saturday but it was not crowded. There were only few tables that were occupied, which made it a nice environment to chill at.

The coffee beans they used is "Supreme". This is the second time I had my flat white with Supreme coffee bean. It has higher acidity and wine-like flavour compared to others like SevenSeeds or DiBella. Although I must say that it tasted much better and smoother than my first experience at a cafe around William Street.

They have some specials of the day on top of the usual menu but they have really simple and few menu options. I have read some reviews regarding the food options there so I was looking forward for pulled pork bun. But it wasn't on the menu nor the specials, so I was a little disappointed. But after enquiring the waiter about it, they actually have it! Not sure if they left it out on the specials or they haven't update it. The pulled pork was pretty yummy and juicy, not as dry as Chuckle Park's. It costs me about $18 including a flat white.

And this is green eggs. Something to try if you haven't tried eggs with pesto. There is a cafe in central market that sells this variation in Adelaide too. You could actually see them cooking it on the spot at the bar area, made fresh!

The food here makes it a mediocre cafe in term of both options and flavours despite the hipster environment and very friendly waiter. It could have be better than this. Anyway, ending the brunch date with this group photo. This is the second time Ong came over this year. It's always good to have friend to come over and enjoy good meal like this =)
To be at this lovely place. The truth is, living your daily life here is much more than what I thought it is. Officially done with my studies and professional papers, I'm pretty much a free soul in term of studies. Now it hits me to really living the days as a total adult. Is loving the lifestyle and the city enough to keep me going? I have realised that I have made it too simple for myself, thinking about all beautiful things this city has to offer and ignored what the reality is. A main factor that has gone out of my consideration is the social factor. I have no problem talking to people, even chatting to strangers on the street/ workplace/ cafe. Unfortunately, which I am not so sure of which reasons, there is something that limits the connection in term of socialising, which plays a huge factor to make me feel belonged. Is this really how I want my life to be like? Is the trade off worth it for the beautiful things of this city? I am not sure. In fact, its probably a "no". But thinking about what this could turn into in a 20 years time, the impact of benefit and rights in our future, or for future generation is possibly very great.

It might be all the crap that I've just typed above, or..........

I'm just tired of being away independently for the 6th years now.

I have no idea how did it happen! that I have been out on my own for freaking six years already. It sounds like a long long period of time but it has already pass by!

Good luck to myself for searching the next route in my life, to position my future.

This set of pictures captured by Vivienne Mok is so ethereal. They just don't seemed to be belonged to this world, not to the reality. They are so feminine and delicate, beyond imagination. To me they seemed to be only exist in fantasy land, or heaven. Of course credits goes to the stylist Sarah Caseneuve, hair stylist Sandra Yazoue and make up artist Guillaine Frichot. The overused (in a good way) of sheer dresses, lace and flower petal details are amazing. Paired with loose, dreamy hair do and light make-up, Ann-Claire (the model) looks so angelic. I absolutely adore these pictures.

Always love brunch date, although in this case, it was our lunch.. But not to worry, Le Miel Et La Lune supply all day breakfast menu. Already a plus point from the start :D The little bear with a coffee cup right up its head is the logo of this cafe. Their website display this cutie but nothing else, not even a menu. Not sure if they're still upgrading their website though. The cafe has a huge glass wall that enables lots of natural sunlight entering to brighten up the whole space. The interior is very simple and classic, painted all white, matched with some black coloured deco and dark brown wooden furniture.

I ordered French Toast, cannot get past it when there's a twist in the ingredients, no? It comes with butter scotched banana, apart from the normal bacon and maple syrup. The brioche toast was really yummy, soft in the middle but not soggy! The syrup tasted like they've mixed in some banana flavour, which is pretty special. Unfortunately it was too sweet to my liking. Nonetheless it was really tasty.

Although almost all of the brunch/lunch items are above $15, but they are very filling and will definitely satisfy your hunger crave. Plus the food are all yummy, I'm gonna be a returning customer.. Even-though there's so many cafes in Melbourne alone, it's not easy to find one that can produce most, if not all of the menu items with great taste.

This alleyway, it's actually a dead end alley, tucked between two buildings. It has been given a glory transformation compared to others that are normally used to hide the gigantic rubbish skips. Could not doubt the creativity of the man behind this cafe & bar named "CHUCKLE PARK". It is located at Little Collins St, between Swanston St and Elizabeth St. The location provides convenience for lunch and dinner, and even a short stop over in between shopping sessions as it is so near to Bourke St Mall.

Yes, it is open space, thus allowing the natural sunlight to shine in. On top of this, we also do not need to worry about the coming chilly winter, it has got heater at every corner to keep us warm =) Plus you might be ordering some alcohol since it's a bar, and it will probably keeps you warm enough already.
Not forgetting the light bulbs on top, each light bulbs were locked into a glass bottle with plant and soil in it. I do wonder how they water the plants actually... hmm...
Enough of all the archi talks, another reason that drew my attention to try out is the first item of their menu - Pulled Pork Bun.
This is the only picture I have of the bun, was too hungry to take proper picture of the bun.

The bun is just to my liking, not too hard. It is served with coleslaw on top of the pulled pork. The coleslaw serving was so generous that I couldn't grab the whole bun intact, the coleslaw keeps dropping out. But the pulled pork was yummy, a tad dry but yummy nonetheless!!

Bearing in mind that it only costs $9.50, this is definitely worth the value!
I bet this is the best birthday present ever. Waking up to find your self arriving in an overseas country, literally, since they arrived in the early morning. Lucky little brother! A crazy week ahead. We were in 3 states in Australia within 1 week- Melbourne, Tasmania, and Sydney.

He had two birthday celebrations on his 19th birthday. Once at Koko Black with dad, boyf and I. Brownie as birthday cake, considering we will be away two days later. But quite special right, love the ambience too. We were lucky as we were sited upstairs, having more privacy away from passers-by. We has the platter to share as we were quite full, but it ensure my bro and dad could try most of the desserts offered by Koko Black. Also, the ice chocolate is a must for chocolate lover. The waitress is kind enough to help me up with surprising my bro, appreciate her effort!
Second celebration at home with Elaine and Yiann, with humongous macaroons from LuxBite. These two are rasperry flavoured and chocolatey. Apart from these, they have some really special flavours for their macaroons, such as kaya, pandan, kopiko.
One of the exciting parts of the trip to me is travelling to Tasmania. Haven't been there before and have always heard good comments about it. Well, it is really picturesque, but really, nothing much apart from the scenery. More suitable if you are a total scenery person, and it's best to do road trip throughout Tasmania, eg driving from Hobart to surroundings then to Launceston. But of course, like anyone would've expected, the seafood is seriously irresistible.
Had our brunch on the first day at Ginger Brown cafe located right out of the CBD. Their baked eggs is highly recommended in UrbanSpoon. Gave it a go and man it is really awesome. The base is a mixture of mashed white cauliflower and potato with cheese, and also a big slice of salmon in it. Something really different from baked eggs I usually had which normally got paired up with tomatoes flavour. No doubt for the freshness of salmon!
One of the best seafood dinner I've had is this one, at Drunken Admiral. The freshness! I'm drooling over it again as I'm typing. Initially we ordered two mains to share, which are sizzling platter consisting skewers of fish, scallops and prawns with bowl of chips and salmon fillet with tomatoes, anchovies and potatoes. However, we added the special of the day in the end, the crayfish, which just caught on the day itself. Damn everything super yummy! Plus, we get to have a bowl of salad from the salad bar with every main ordered.
We only had 2 days at Hobart, so we went on a day trip to Port Arthur, with stopping by Richmond with Adventure Island Tour. The whole Port Arthur was a prison site with extremely low chance of escaping. In fact. Port Arthur was one of the prison with the most strict rules on discipline in Australia. There's even school and church to educate and change the prisoner to be a better man. However, the prisoners there were mostly not serious offender like a murderer, they were mostly convicted due to stealing. Fun fact, about 70% of the current residents in Tasmania are descendent of convicts.

After having some fun in Melbourne and Tasmania, we flew over to Sydney. Apart from the signature architecture of Opera House and Harbour Bridge, we are more excited to enjoy the awesome meal offered by Hurricane's Grill. We ordered a whole BBQ chicken on top of the must pork rib. Both were so so yummy. I have been going back for the ribs every single time I'm back to Sydney. It's heavenly and not to be missed. The pork ribs is the best, but I didn't like the beef ribs, the meat was just too hard.

Lastly, had our last brunch at Lowenbrau. We ordered a platter to share amongst us, thinking that we could have a variety of choices to share, including sausages, chicken schnitzels and meat loafs. But we didn't like it. The sausages and the pork knuckle are still quite good but not others. It's better off to just order the pork knuckle by itself.
It was a great getaway, being away with my family as a plus point. It was a break of my everyday part time and an escape before facing the challenges ahead. And now, I gotta reflect, once again, of what is laying in front of me, and what I could do with it.minnieivyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14060166070562778067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5958286899454215927.post-7959360462159491782013-05-16T01:28:00.000+10:002013-06-23T20:49:55.094+10:00Just do it

If you never act, you will never know for sure

This is so true.

If you get what you hope for in the end, you deserved it because you took the leap of faith for doing it.
If you didn't get what you wish for, it's all fine because you tried and you gain the experience.

I've been introduced more deeply in this I guess since I came overseas. There's no specific thing that make me suddenly realise about it. It's not that I heard about it only recently. I'm sure everyone of us read or heard such similar quote so many times in our life. But do we really accept it deep in our heart and put it into actions? Or do we just say yes in our heart and leave it as it is?

I felt that I'm so much more open to it and doing it since I came overseas is because that I've done so many more things that I wouldn't have courage or simply not allowed to do if I were in Malaysia. I do not regret any of it, even though there are some that I failed too. Thinking about all I've done, I will not trade any of them for anything else.minnieivyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14060166070562778067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5958286899454215927.post-68904043406658819112013-05-14T23:54:00.000+10:002013-06-23T20:19:52.219+10:00One step closer

Two weeks passed since the day I'm done with exam. Two weeks, for two weeks I've done a little bit more to complete my life. A little step at a time, but I am definitely gonna do this. I will fill up my life, nothing like before. Not that I didn't enjoy my past, but I've learnt so much more here. my eye sight go opened up and it leads me to seeing things differently, precisely in the sense of pursuit of happiness and the learning process itself. There was a long period of time, thinking dreams are just dreams. They are so beautiful because they are dreams. But now, despite the unknowing timing for them to turn into reality, I've learnt to enjoy the process itself, making sure I'm closer to the dreams, not being stagnant.

For my love in coffee, I've attended coffee classes to push my knowledge further, both theory and practical part. And I'm actually looking into getting a domestic coffee machine that suits my budget. Aiming on one, and hopefully will be able to get it on hand soon.

Ahhh my first attempt of doing latter art, I'm so gonna master it, I will...

Also I'm experimenting more on cooking and baking nowadays. Looking up for new recipes every now and then, and trying them out. I'm going all out lol putting much more effort and budget in it than before. One reason being the free time I have now, and also for the sake of wide range ingredients available here compared to my hometown, if I were to go back one day, or soon.

So I baked chocolate fondant, served with pavlova ice-cream. I used dark chocolates for the fondant so the sweetness from ice-cream could just even out our palette.

Baked scallops, with creamy sauce and cheese. Happy with the end result, they turned out great and not soggy at all.

This is a random one, chocolate cookies. I just simply followed the recipe given by the chocolate bites pack. They turned out to be rather flat and huge ones, like those Subway cookies, but slightly more crunchy.

I am not stopping these passion here. After a family trip next week, I shall continue with my adventures. It feels great. To be honest, I feel powered, instead of feeling bored for all the free time I am having now. I guess that's the magic of doing things that you're interested in.

And hopefully the very last time. I'm now waiting for the result of final paper with CPA. It's pretty torturing as it take one and a half month for the announcement of result.

Yet, I'm so not gonna feel bored. I've planned to retake IELTS, not a very exciting event, but then I'm also gonna learn barista within this period, now that's exciting!

There are so many things that I like, but not putting in all my efforts yet. I guess this is a very good period of time, or maybe even the best phase of my life to be able to put my heart and soul in to bring myself unto an adventure, discovering what this world has got got offer. Of course I still need to constantly remind myself of continuing my job-hunting mission. It's the reality. I have the time till end of the year. Let's see what my life turns itself into. Gonna be a pretty important phase of my life.

I'm currently feeling very appreciative, despite being unemployed lol I love to made others' day, seeing others wearing a smile on their face just brightened me up. And I could do it so frequently through my part-time, even simply with just a greeting or lending a helping hand to elderly.

So many ways to love life!
Had a short escape to Adelaide last Thursday. It was a great trip, a short but definitely fun trip. At least I managed to let loose of exam tension for a little while. It was boyf's graduation. Also graduation of my friends. I'm a proud girlf, and friend :)

Taking advantage of the graduation trip, we rented a car and drove to Barossa Valley for a wine tasting trip with his parents. Of course, a breakfast stop before leaving the city. I didn't want to go back to the usual breakfast place, so we decided to try out a cafe on Rundle street. And when we reached there, we realised that there's actually another cafe nearby that has more customers and even nicer ambiance. Guessing that it's better, we stepped in and we like it. It's called Hey Jupiter by the way. It's located at 11 Ebenezer Place
Adelaide, South Australia 5000.
They use 5 Senses coffee beans for their coffee. Part of the reason I like it- pink saucer for my flat white hahaha
They have this baked egg, with pancetta, mushrooms, mashed potato It is pretty yummy, especially the pancetta, which made it extra tasty. It costs $14 or you could trade it with smoked salmon with extra $2.50. Definitely worth trying.
Finished feeding our tummy, and here we go!!! It took us about an hour drive to reach our first destination- The Whispering Wall. It's actually an abandoned reservoir. Standing at one end, you could actually hear very clearly what is the person at the other end speaking, even if they speak softly. Theory of sound-wave, I guess?
Cute family. W for Whispering Wall lol
Next, to the vine yards and cellar doors. Our route that day was Jacob's Creek, St Hallett, Grant Burge, Rockford and finally Penfolds. We made it to 5 cellar doors before I catch my flight back to Melbourne in the evening of the very same day.
Rockford also sells varieties of jam and mustard dips. Taste them with the bread pieces provided. I ended up buying quince jam and dried apricot & passionfruit jam for my housemates.
And now, I'm back in Melbourne, preparing for my upcoming exam which is in a week's time! Great, stress-ing out now! Can't wait for my next trip with my own family in end of May. <3 p=""></3>minnieivyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14060166070562778067noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5958286899454215927.post-73554204740709509722013-04-16T03:37:00.002+10:002013-06-23T20:49:55.076+10:00brightening it upIn a day, I experienced two incidents that brought me extremely different feeling. I thought I had a very very bad day caused by my mistake, added up with negative support from others. On the other hand, I receive warmth through people by my side. It's nothing much, just spending quality time at home. Because we're not family in biology sense, quality time has a deeper value. So much so that I decided to not let negative event to take the hold of me. I don't think that I am a very optimistic person, but I do appreciate alot, and when I feel grateful, it means the whole world to me. It is more than enough to remove my negative energy.

On the other day, I thought I had a very bad day as well due to an argument with the boyf. We rarely have serious argument, but yea shit happens. So I was really upset. But then, once we cleared things up, I know that we're lucky to overcome shitty incident no matter what. I'm glad that whatever happened, we're still us. I'm grateful for that.

When people talk about ups and downs, it's more like some big incidents in life stages. But I guess when drastic changes happen within one day, you could feel the mini heart attack too. Those two days really got me think abit further. There might be situations that upset us, challenge us. Negative emotion is certainly unavoidable but feeling sad shouldn't be too long. Look around, look at things that you've never noticed or you've taken it for granted, then give it a chance of appreciation. It's our decision to let positive or negative emotion to take control of us. Look for the beam of sunshine that will brighten your day.
