Falls Creek Snow Ski

I can now say that I have seen, play and walk in snow after 3 years plus in Australia! Well, main reason being most of the areas in Australia don't snow in winter. The temperature is simply not cold enough for the snow to visit. Therefore we have to go up the mountains such as Mount Buller, Hotham and Falls Creek for the snow experience. It was such a fun and adventurous 3 days trip I would say. We picked Falls Creek as it is most probably not as crowded as Mount Buller, and as for Hotham somehow we just didn't thought of going there.

It normally takes about 6-7hours ride from Melbourne city to Falls Creek. Unfortunately, it took us way longer than that! We were stuck just before we reach Falls Creek due to rock slide and VicRoad decided that it is too dangerous and it is gonna take a whole night to clear the road. We were so shocked and worried at that point, it was our first snow trip ya see... So we had two choices, to return to Melbourne city; or to take the chance and stay overnight at the small town we were at, which is called Bright and hoping that the road will be cleared by tomorrow morning. But that means we will be having 2 days 1 night instead of 3 days 2 nights at Falls Creek. Anyhow we decided to wait till the next morning and I am grateful that we made that decision as the road was cleared by the next morning as promised by VicRoad.

I was so ecstatic seeing the snowy scenery, so white so picturesque! None of us has snow walking boots thus we were walking so carefully as it is quite slippery walking on the snow, way more slippery than we thought, not to mention dragging our luggages along to the accommodation. To avoid this, there is a transfer service that costs $20 per person per trip but our accommodation is nearby so we didn't want to pay for that.

We stayed at Elk at Falls and it is a really lovely apartment. It is a 2 bedrooms apartment with fully furnished kitchenette. And that is why we brought food over to have steamboat in the chilly night. A major plus point is the view from the balcony,  so so so gorgeous I can't describe! Gasps! It's all snowy white, it's like a painting!

Our first group picture at snow mountain :D We were on our way to pick up our ski gears. The ski clothing are all waterproof, which is very important not only to protect against the wind/rain but is extremely helpful if you happen to fall down while skiing/ snowboarding or else you will be all wet. The ski boots and boards are not only picked best to your size, but also calibrated for accuracy. The ski gears are pretty heavy to carry. And the bulky ski boots are also quite stiff and tight, which is good to maintain your ankle position to avoid injuries but could be uncomfortable for first time wearer.

It works in such a way that we take chair lifts up the top and ski down, there are various slopes, in terms of steepness, distance and difficulty.  All lifts were opened on that day but given our limited time on that day for us to learn to ski and actually started skiing on our own, we only bought the ticket with least lifts. We had about 2 hours beginner lesson to learn to handle the ski boards.

The lifts are not even like a cable car, it's basically just steel chair with handle!! And we had to carry the ski gears with our hands all the way up as we didn't even know how to fit it up with our ski boots at that point of time. I was trying to hold my ski gears tightly fearing if I accidentally let loose it will fell off, the long ride was not doing any good! Feeling the weight of ski gears and the never ending distance, the only thing that made it better was the breathtaking scenery, really. Why can't they have proper cable car so that we can rest the gears and enjoy the scenery?!

Also, snowman is not limited to movies anymore! There I seen it with my own eyes and even built one myself! Proud moment.. Don't laugh at how excited I was and still am, 'cause it was my first snowman ever in my life ok! As we were returning to the city the next day evening, we just rented the ski gears for a day. We decided to just walked around the village, just relax and have some fun. For me, it means snapping pictures all the way hehehe

I miss the scenery so much, so much more that I never thought of. It was simply unforgettable! Eventhough the trip didn't go according to plan at the start but I'm glad that we made the right choice and made it to Falls Creek in the end. It is definitely an adventurous one. Everything that was so perfect on Falls Creek redeem it all! One thing that made it not-so-perfect was that it didn't actually snow on that 2 days. Oh well, life is not always perfect isn't it? There's always possibility in life right? :)

Heavenly, a fantasy

This set of pictures captured by Vivienne Mok is so ethereal. They just don't seemed to be belonged to this world, not to the reality. They are so feminine and delicate, beyond imagination. To me they seemed to be only exist in fantasy land, or heaven. Of course credits goes to the stylist Sarah Caseneuve, hair stylist Sandra Yazoue and make up artist Guillaine Frichot. The overused (in a good way) of sheer dresses, lace and flower petal details are amazing. Paired with loose, dreamy hair do and light make-up, Ann-Claire (the model) looks so angelic. I absolutely adore these pictures.

recent moments captured

After exams ended, I've been pretty much enjoying my days here. SInce I've booked ticket to fly back Malaysia for holiday, I have to pause my job hunting for now. Thus, I'm left with finding a new apartment unit to stay for next year, earn some money from my part time job, and just enjoy my time with my friends before we split up for holidays back home.

Some photos that I took to capture the memories. Pretty into portrait now, capturing candid, fun moments.

This lady obviously immersing in her own world in this quirky cafe with her cup of coffee.

Playful waitress chatting with the chef.

Burst out laughing because the bench was too hot, thanks to the great sun lol

flowers, can't get enough of flowers!

Walked quite a distance from the brunch cafe to this cafe for coffee. But it was a nice stroll. New found cafe called Miss Jackson, a very simple, modern style cafe. Our usual drinks, cappuccino, flat white, and mocha.

How clear is the sea water! can see the corals! super tempted to swim that day, should've brought extra clothes!

some other random shots at the beach:

night world, this week's gonna be a fun week before everyone goes back for holiday. and then it might get bored after that when the apartment is left with me only =(

brunch and playsuit

This is my second time visiting this little elegant patisserie, LuxBite at Toorak Road. Last time I went there for their patisserie and macaroons as they are among the top 20 macaroons in Australia. This time round, I went to try on their spring brunch menu.

Love the colour of the orchids, so bright, so bold, yet so elegantly captured inside the tall glass vase. Imagine if its a short vase and the flowers just hanging out of the vase, it would totally spoil the theme of the cafe. I'm sure the owners have something for interior design based on such details presented. Plus, there are some interior designs' magazine among the pile of food review magazines. They have taste.

And this is the branch-out light hanging from their ceiling. They have a rather tall ceiling, which makes the small space extra comfortable.

Ann got this gigantic macaroon, can't remember the exact name, but its very very chocolaty, not normal chocolate, but ferrero rocher.

Brunch menu items we tried are pork roll and pandan chicken burger.

pork roll
Elaine's pork roll is somehow so-so, not as great as I've expected. No kick in it. But I love the pandan chicken burger! Reminds me of Malaysia. In fact, I remember I've read somewhere that the owners are Malaysian. I guess that's how you bring your origin to present?

pandan chicken burger

Even though it's spring already, the weather is rather uncertain. It could be very windy and cold on a day, but very hot the next day. But on this day it was less windy with the sun shining bright, so I've decided to put on my very first playsuit! Love the detailed flower pattern on the waistline! Matching it with geometric necklace to counter off the rather cute design. Loving it haha =D

Olympus E-PL5

This is a really shocking news, didn't see it coming, or else I would have been prepared, I mean anticipated for it. Almost got a mini heart attack when I saw the announcement on by Olympus Australia on Facebook. So Olympus is releasing new cameras and lenses. And now my E-PL3 which I just bought last year is becoming an old version. They are jumping to release E-PL5 as a newer version now, together with Pen mini E-PM2. Even though I still love my E-PL3, I'm thankful to be able to own it, but damn it seriously! I'm so so so attracted to the E-PL5!!! It's expected to be available mid-October 2012. Wonder what will the pricing be...

So many great features! Although I'm not that good in this, but at least there are things that I can understand what is it and attracts me :O
-16MP Live MOS Sensor and TruePic VI image processor
-180 degree tilt screen,
-faster focus
-8 frames per second sequential shooting
-removable and interchangeable grip

I don't know how does it sounds like to those professional photographer, but for me, all these in a micro four third with good size to fit in my handbag and not too heavy, I'm totally in love with it!!

Plus, absolutely loving the colour combinations!

Obviously this is the combination I love

Recording down this stage of my life so that I could come back in the future and look back at what I've experienced, my current feelings, thoughts on my mind and my decisions. I'm at this stage of my life where I am a fresh graduate looking for direction in my life. I know that I need to do something with my life, but I just couldn't seem to be sure of what it is. I need something more than just the life I've always thought it would be. Yes I like the career pathway that I'm gonna be in, but is that all I want?

My whole life has been quite proper, as in I have been taking the steps everyone would say "yeap that's good". I do like my chosen pathway, but I am starting to wonder if I am going too fast in my life that I've missed out on other possibilities. I started SAM in January right after Form 5, then degree in February right after I finish SAM, and now I'm doing professional papers right after my degree. I didn't step back and think about what am I gonna do apart from my chosen career. I am constantly moving ahead, no pausing. I dream of other possibilities, I do, since young in fact, but I just didn't manage to pull myself to the stage that I finally put it into a reality. And eventually I thought okay, I'll definitely realise my dreams, maybe when I'm gonna retire. Maybe I don't have enough faith, or maybe I'm not brave enough, maybe I'm letting the sunlights out there to scare me off...

But now, I realise I just couldn't let myself to push the dreams further. Don't know if it's a good thing aiming more like this, or just focus on my chosen career pathway. But hey, life is short, I don't wanna regret about my life. I firmly believe that no matter what decision we made in the past, we should not regret it even it was a bad decision because we learnt something out of it, no matter how bad the lesson was.

I am currently looking into what I wanna do apart from my chosen career pathway, when, where, and how am I gonna realise it along with my future career. I seriously need to sort things out. Feeling quite lost at this stage...

Could've chosen the left door without lock but I am trying to open the door with lock on the right...

p/s: took the photos above this morning and realised they're totally reflecting my thoughts! such coincidence..

My new baby

This is so exciting! Finally, finally! I bought Olympus Epl-3. The reason being that I have waited for so long is because originally I wanted the white colour, but it never reach! So I ended up getting the black one after waiting for around 1 month. Why do I change camera just after 2 years? Well my previous camera encountered lens error and it never function again. It is very expensive to change the lens so I got this new camera. But I learnt the lesson, don't get camera that is too delicate. My previous camera was fully touch screen, which means no button at all! I like the look of it in terms of compact camera as it has the clean look. Of course very good quality too. But again, too delicate! Ever since I got interested in camera, I always wish that I am able to learn more about photography and perhaps own a Dslr in future. Always admire beautiful photos taken by others. And now, I finally take a step closer to my secret dream. I chose this model mainly because of it has a mix of manual and auto functions, suitable for a beginner like me. Plus, it is so compact! It's so much more convenient for me to carry around, as I do carry around on normal days, plus a thought of matching it with my size. hahaha =D

Some shots taken with my new baby, thank you my friends, for letting me to take your precious photographs =D

I will improve myself, I will learn! =) Still feeling the excitement =P
